SIRANE will open a new factory in the heart of Mexico in January 2016, as demand from the region for innovative products continues to gather pace.
Sirane Mexico will be based in Guadalajara, close to the major berry growing regions and the headquarters of many major growers, and will focus initially on absorbent fruit pads... however, the site will have the potential to supply absorbent seafood solutions into markets in North, Central and South America, as well as cooking bags.
Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Mexico is the perfect place for Sirane to begin manufacturing. Certainly in soft-fruit terms, it is one of the world’s major producers, but geographically it is also quite a distance from many of its major export markets. It is also fairly close to some major seafood exporting countries, including Chile and the US.
“By opening manufacturing in Mexico, Sirane will be able to offer better service and better technology to the region. The transport links will also connect us with major markets in Central and North America. While in the short-term we expect fruit packaging to be the major driver, the factory will in fact allow us to manufacture much more besides, including seafood packaging.”
Sirane offers a range of absorbent pads for fish and seafood, including absorbent crate liners, salt-water release pads for live seafood, and anti-microbial pads. We also offer a range of steam-cooking bags for the oven and microwave, oven/BBQ cooking bags and more, all of which are perfect for seafood sales.
All of these products will eventually be manufactured at the new 1,500 sq m unit in Guadalajara, in an innovation park where there is scope to expand the site as the Mexican business grows.
Simon Balderson added: “Sirane Mexico will provide jobs in the region for engineers, scientists and in manufacturing. We have had great help from Pro Mexico in the UK, as well as the Mexican government and the local officials in the Jalisco region. We're very excited about the possibilities that Sirane Mexico offers.
“The location in Guadalajara is perfect, close to the major growing regions and so close to customers, and on a new innovation park with easy access to the Pan-American Highway – meaning it is well connected by road to much of North and Central America - connecting it with the vast seafood industries of the west coast of Canada and Alaska.
“Sirane Mexico is a significant step for Sirane. We’ve been encouraged every step of the way by people within the Mexican food industry and by government officials, and we’re now looking forward to the day the factory opens for business and begins production.”
Sirane is a highly innovative packaging product development-to-manufacture company based in the United Kingdom. It has four divisions: food packaging; medical and healthcare; industrial and horticultural, and a number of agents and distributors across the world. Sirane Mexico is the company’s third manufacturing facility, with the main manufacturing centre remaining in Telford, Shropshire, UK. The third factory is in Antalya, Turkey.
Sirane Mexico will manufacture products solely for the local markets in Central/North America. Our manufacturing in Telford will be unaffected, and is currently being expanded to provide further increased capacity, following a very successful 2015.
